ABOUT

Join your host Setwun in an intensive full-day of masterclasses located at the Powerhouse Museum. Setwun will spend a full day with 25 participants, experiencing 3x 90-minute masterclasses across each of these pillars:

  1. Create – all about music-making
  2. Perform – all about live performance development and DJing
  3. Amplify – marketing, branding, promoting yourself and engaging with fans, brands and media, online and offline

Co-hosting this Masterclass is artist manager and Liveschool trainer Nadine Marja, as well as forward-thinking dub-wise producer Cousin. Plus, Ableton certified trainers Thomas Marland and Olympia Henshaw will be helping guide the Create and Perform sessions throughout the day.

The EMC Masterclass program has been designed with independent artists in mind, hungry to take the reins with their own careers following two years of disruption and is part of EMC’s ‘The Reboot’ one-day conference held on Tuesday 5 April at the Powerhouse Museum.

SETWUN

Setwun is the musical brainchild of composer, producer, multi-instrumentalist and DJ, Josh Panakera-Molony. Already a much-respected figure on Eora/Sydney’s underground scene, the hype for those on the outside has been bubbling with every small offering and tip-offs from some of the world’s most revered including Gilles Peterson, Alexander Nut and Bradley Zero, releasing a series of remixes on the Rhythm Section imprint. The versatile music mind made waves internationally with a string of output that has given him the rubber-stamp as one of Australia’s most exciting talents in recent years.

NEXT GENERATION SCHOLARSHIPS

Following EMC’s intensive full day masterclasses in April 2022, one participant from each masterclass (3 participants in total) will be selected to receive a 6 month professional development scholarship. The program is founded on the desire to foster and cultivate emerging artists in dance music culture and will address 5 key areas artists will encounter in a rapidly evolving industry, informed by innovative technologies that have come to revolutionise music production and enhance live performance, in addition to understanding the robust domestic and global marketing and PR landscape.
