If you’re looking for Deepa on a Sydney Saturday night, you’d be able to catch her on the airwaves, presiding over a thumping dancefloor, or planning the city’s next big night to remember. DJ, host of FBi Radio’s Saturday Sunset, and one half of jazz-loving party duo, Honey Point, Deepa is guided by all things warm with a deep affinity for intention.
Wielding USBs packed with oddball and leftfield selections, her taste brings genre diverse selections, stretching from rose-tinted Indopop and cheeky breaks to deep, dark hypnotic drums. Trusted to play alongside Tim Sweeney, Carista, Ahadadream, and Toma Kami to name a few, Deepa’s modus operandi is to coyly weave sets that toe the line between sweet and dangerous, equally capable of capturing crowds in the early hours of the night or wee hours of the morning.
Beyond the decks, Deepa’s work within Honey Point aims to create a platform for those less represented in the underground Sydney music scene. Established in their sound and now with club nights, DIY warehouse parties, brunches, as well as a show on Nomad Radio under their belts, Honey Point continues to grow and evolve their repertoire in increasingly creative ways. Her brief stint with Picnic Touring & Events also saw her work behind the scenes to forefront some of the best artists and music in Sydney.
