Special Events and Initiatives

Background

Since 2019, EMC has partnered with a range of not for profits, educational partners, brands and cultural institutions to present unique experiences centred around electronic and dance music culture.

Previous special events include:

Lil Peeps, Big Beats Electronic Music Therapy for Children with Disabilities (2022)

In April 2022, EMC in partnership with Ableton, Accessible Arts, Roland, Powerhouse Museum and Tuned in Music Therapy presented ‘Little Peeps, Big Beats’ – electronic music therapy for children living with disability.

These workshops focused on the benefits of music therapy and aim to deliver a positive electronic music experience to participating children and their families. Each session was supported by a Tuned In Music Therapist, an artist host, and educators/product specialists from Ableton and Roland.

‘Little Peeps, Big Beats’ was promoted by EMC and Powerhouse Museum as a part of the Powerhouse Museum Easter school holidays public program.

Audamus (2021)

A unique sound and culinary experience, EMC, Lazydaze and the Australian National Maritime Museum teamed up to present the Audamus series in 2021. Held on the helicopter landing pad of the HMAS Vampire and set against a stunning Barangaroo backdrop, a line-up of well loved NSW artists performed live ambient and downtempo DJ sets. This was accompanied by delicious food and drinks specially curated by some of Sydney’s finest restaurateurs. The result was an experience like no other and came at the perfect time when the pandemic forced us to think more creatively for ways we could continue to enjoy electronic music while dance floors remained off limits.

Powerhouse Late (2021)

For its Powerhouse Late takeover in 2021, EMC collaborated with some of Sydney’s most iconic collectives and promoters to present an incredible selection of live music, DJ sets, performances and visual delights throughout the Powerhouse Museum. Together with EMC friends S*A*S*H, Stereogamous, The Wall, and Groovescooter the EMC edition of Powerhouse Late delivered an after hours experience of excellent music and visual art and tasty treats thanks to Campari and Butter.
