EMC Announces Recipients of the Inaugural Nest Generation Schloarships Program

EMC today announced the recipients of the inaugural EMC Next Generation Scholarship, a 6-month professional development program delivering intensive one-on-one mentoring to three recipients, focusing on a different module each month. 

Amin Cooper, Juanita Sumner and Warren Foster are the inaugural recipients following their participation in EMC’s Reboot Masterclasses. They were selected by EMC Masterclass Hosts Human Movement, Nina Las Vegas and Setwun to receive the scholarship. 

Each will receive mentoring sessions with Antonia Gauci (Music Making), Jane Slingo (Management), Joel Farland (Live Performance Development), Monique Rothstein (Marketing and PR) and Sarah Hamiliton (DIY Releasing). In addition to these core modules, the scholars will have a professional photo and promotional video shoot in October for the development of a new EPK (electronic press kit). 

Juanita Sumner aka SOVBLKPSSY (she/they) is a queer Ngarrindjeri, Ramindjeri, Walkandi-Woni multi-instrumentalist, producer and club DJ. She is also a bassist and regularly performs with Kee’ahn. Outside of music she volunteers for Wuurn of Kanak LandBack initiative.
Warren Foster aka Prodikal-1 (he/him) is a Yuin Djiringanj man and artist with a powerful message. He has two released tracks – Space Funk (2021) and Cruzin’ (2022), and has performed throughout NSW with Nooky, The Strides, Barkaa and the Black Jesus Experience.
Amin Cooper (he/him) is an Egyptian born producer/dj. He cultivated a love for the underground House & Techno scene, Djing and producing during his time at university and during a 6 month exchange in Finland. Amin is continuing to develop his craft through his collaborative project mk54, and aims to explore further the many depths and intricacies of techno and electronic music for a solo project in the future.
