todayFebruary 11, 2022 135

Background

EMC is proud to partner with the Australian Music Centre to offer four NSW-based sound art, progressive and experimental solo artists the opportunity to perform at EMC’s April conference, held at Sydney’s Powerhouse Museum on Tuesday 5 April 2022.

This first ever collaboration with the AMC it is an initiative to increase the visibility of artists within the sound art, progressive and experimental music communities. The partnership is a further opportunity for artists who have been starved of performances in the past 24 months, and aims to contribute to building more sustainable careers for these artists.

“The AMC is excited to offer creators an opportunity to further develop networks and audiences through their music. We hope that this wonderful collaboration with the Electronic Music Conference will open up new career pathways, and signal the first of many endeavours to stimulate career sustainability in the music community.”

Australian Music Centre CEO, Catherine Haridy said

“EMC is thrilled to collaborate with the AMC to offer four artists a paid performance at EMC, as well as connecting them with the electronic music community. We’re also excited to have experimental and sound artists from the AMC community as a part of the overall experience at The Reboot this April.”

Electronic Music Conference Director, Jane Slingo says

Solo musicians and sound performers working with electronic media are invited to submit a sample of their work to be considered for selection by a panel from the Australian Music Centre and the Electronic Music Conference. Four selected artists will each perform a 20 minute set in a dedicated performance area outside of the Powerhouse Theatre, and will be awarded a performance fee $350 (excl. GST), plus a full day ‘Rider Pass’ to the conference valued at $290.60. The Rider Pass includes all catering and social experiences throughout the day.

Artist submissions are now open, and will close on Monday 21 February. Artist selections will be announced in the week of Monday 28 February.
